In 1938, Alfred Vogt established the Alfred Vogt-Foundation in memory of his son who died in an accident. Every year, prizes are awarded for the best scientific work in the field of ophthalmology and its border areas. Furthermore, the foundation provides scholarships and honours the best results in specialist examinations.
The foundation's work has numerous benefits and positive effects on ophthalmology and the scientific community. By providing financial support for research projects, innovative insights are gained, and new treatment methods are developed. In addition, the foundation promotes the exchange between experts and enables the further training of young scientists. The foundation thus contributes significantly to the improvement of ophthalmology and strengthens the research community.
Alfred Vogt was born in Burg near Menziken (AG), Switzerland, in 1879. He attended the cantonal school in Aarau and completed his medical studies in Zurich and Basel.
